2006 Regional Tournament Rules & Information

This page is intended to remind coaches and umpires of the tournament rules for the 2006 Region 6 Regional.  All rules of the 2006 State Handbook will be followed.  This is intended as a summary.

PRE-GAME INFO

·        The cost of the tournament is $50 per game.   After your elimination from the tournament, please present a check to our concession stand for the amount due for your team.   This covers the cost of ½ of an umpire and the baseballs for your game.

·        Please present your line up ½ hour before your game to the scorer’s booth.

·        No infield/outfield will be allowed.

·        Coin Flip will determine home team.  Loser of the coin flip has option as to which dugout they wish to keep.  Baraboo will always use the 3rd Base dugout.

Starting lineups will only be announced for the championship game(s) only.  The Nation Anthem will be played at the beginning of each day.

GAME INFO

·        ANY player or coach ejected for any reason from a game will not be allowed to continue to participate in the tournament unless reinstated by the regional director.  Head coaches, this is your responsibility.  You must remind your players and coaches of this rule.  Do not put our umpires in the uncomfortable position of having to eject a player or coach.

·        No 10 Run Rule

·        Courtesy Runners Allowed for pitcher or catcher only.

·        DH for any player (WIAA rule followed)

·        Re-Entry allowed

·        No pitcher may pitch more than 12 innings or make 4 appearances in a 3 consecutive calendar day period.

·        Collision Rule:  Players must avoid contact at all costs.  If the runner could have avoided the collision and reached base, or attempted to dislodge the ball, the runner shall be declared out.  The ball is dead and all other base runners return to the last touched base at the time of the interference.  However, if a fielder blocks the path of the base runner, contact may be made as long as it is not flagrant.  Any flagrant or malicious contact will result in immediate ejection of the player.  Please review the rules as to what a legal slide is.

Force Play Slide Rule: If a player does not make a legal slide in a direct line between the two bases on a force play, the runner and batter runner are both out with less than two outs.  Please review the rules as to what a legal slide is.

PLEASE REVIEW THE 2006 STATE HANDBOOK FOR ALL RULES APPLICABLE TO THIS TOURNAMENT!
